BLACK KIDS ACADEMY welcomes many families who at times may not be able to afford to continue to keep their child in our learning environment. You can sponsor a child to attend.

Monies received towards sponsoring a child will pay for all or a portion of the child's tuition, food, uniforms, graduation fees or educational field trips, etc.

Through our sponsorship program, you can become a corporate or personal sponsor. Your monthly donations help us as well as parents with many costs such as:

Providing maintenance and upkeep
Updating office equipment and supplies
Increasing state-of-the-art electronics and computer systems

ESTATE

PLANNING

For many donors, it's important to ensure that they continue to help those who are doing the work that is very important to them continues after their lifetimes.

We work with individuals, families and professional advisors to establish funds through planned giving, so that charitable goals are honored into the future.

Estate planning finds ways to make charitable gifts while enjoying financial benefits for yourself.

Planned gifts require discussion with your professional advisers. Unlike cash donations, they are typically made from assets in your estate rather than disposable income, and either become operable now or as bequests upon your death.

A misconception is that gift planning is only for the "wealthy." The truth is, even people of modest means can make a difference through gift planning.

Some ways you can give this way is:

BEQUESTS

Name the Community Foundation in your will or trust. A charitable bequest can specify dollar amount, a percentage of an estate or what remains after other bequests, including those to family members, are made.

CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUST

This giving vehicle can be appealing to donors with appreciated assets, including real estate and securities.

They allow individuals to receive income – or provide income to another person – with the knowledge that the funds remaining when the trust terminates will be used to support their charitable interests.

There is also charitable lead trusts, which support charitable interests now while leaving remaining trust assets to the heirs.

LIFE INSURANCE

Life insurance can be used as a charitable asset, making a donor eligible for a charitable tax deduction based on the current value of the paid-up policy. As an option, an individual can simply name BLACK KIDS ACADEMY as the beneficiary of part or all of the insurance proceeds.

RETIREMENT FUND ASSETS:

Because they are heavily taxed, retirement fund assets from qualified plans or IRAs are ideal for charitable giving purposes.

They allow an individual to avoid income and estate tax while making a significant gift that will meet pressing needs in the local community.

Black Kids Academy SUPPORTS Black Girls CO

Please click on the picture above to donate to Black Girls Code, which depend heavily on donations to operate. They work to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color ages 7 to 17 to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology.

Boys and Girls Club of America at Black Kids Academy

My very first management job was as a Director of the Boys and Girls Club in Louisiana. Later, I went on to be an Executive Director.

I absolutely loved the children and it was one of the best jobs I ever had!

The first time I moved to Dallas Forth Worth was due to Hurricane Katrina back in 2005 I came here with nothing but the clothes on my back. Dress for Success outfitted me from head to toe with an outfit. I took that outfit and went to an interview for Dillard's where I became a supervisor and a manager at Braums. I bought some clothes for 10 cents at the thrift store to begin working. I never forgot how they helped me and others. Many of the other women I saw were women trying to escape Domestic Violence and establish independence. It was a humbling experience, but everyone was so kind and helpful. I left there feeling like a million bucks and empowered. They not only provide clothes, but they also provide

resources or give you more outfits to use if you needed it for a job. It was set up like a boutique so you felt like you were shopping and trying on clothes at an upscale store.

The charities we support are because we have either received from them personally, believe in their cause, or in my case, I personally worked there and saw the good that was done with the donations. Tre Boy was born by way of an emergency C-Section at just 32 weeks. He was breech and weighed only 4 pounds 11 oz. When he was born he was not fully developed and could not breathe on his own. He had a seizure at birth and almost died.

Please consider donating to the March of Dimes. March of Dimes is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. According to its website, "We believe that every baby deserves the best possible start.

As one of the only national organizations dedicated exclusively to the success and well-being of Black children, the National Black Child Development Institute and our National Affiliate Network have been a powerful and effective voice on issues related to the education, care, and health of Black children and their families.

NBCDI supports and works primarily with Black children birth through age eight and their families, through coalition building with community-based organizations, foundations, corporations, school systems, elected officials, government, child care, Head Start and many other public and private partnerships.

Our current programs and activities range from our exciting Annual Conference; to T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood DC©; to programs across the country focused on health and wellness, literacy, family engagement, and preparation for college.

Within the Obama Foundation, MBK Alliance focuses on building safe and supportive communities for boys and young men of color where they feel valued and have clear pathways to opportunity.

Every black person should have the ability to create the life they’ve always wanted and that’s what The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. provides.

Committing themselves to personify the type of people our children will look up to and emulate, they embrace the immense responsibility they have to our mentees and our communities. Providing these children another choice in life by being around likeminded individuals who have similar aspirations and goals.

This is done through the 100’s Four For The Future focus areas; Mentoring, Education, Health & Wellness, and Economic Empowerment.

We feel blessed for the program and the opportunities we are able to offer. We also recognize the importance of teaching our children the value of giving back through service-learning opportunities both within our community and to our world.

Our purpose is to provide opportunities for parents to:

Learn – Get up-to-date information on issues and decisions affecting your child’s education. Guest speakers share information on topics pertinent to your child’s educational experience. Meetings also provide information on volunteer needs and opportunities.
Share – We must work together to help our children succeed. The Parent Monthly Facebook Meetups are a vehicle for sharing ideas on ways to improve your child(ren) educational experience. You can offer suggestions for supporting the activities we plan for the children. If you have concerns, we need to hear them as well so we can work to address them.
Serve – You can make a real difference by serving our homeschool community. We offer many volunteer opportunities. Some involve being on school grounds during homeschool hours, some are available after homeschool has ended, or in the Evening, and others can be done from the convenience of your own home. Whether you know it or not, you have a talent, and we can put it to good use.

Keep in mind that BLACK KIDS ACADEMY is not picky, however, please make sure all items are toxic free! We will happily take new or gently used items.

Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, sandwich and Ziploc bags. Large Ziploc baggies (for carrying our precious creations home!)
Laundry detergent and fabric softener.
Cleaning products (sponges, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent, clorox wipes, paper towels, etc.)
Bath and bedroom items (beach towels, twin sheets and pillow cases)

Kitchen (these items can be gently used, do not have to be new):
